How to Adopt
adoption process | pet haven
Step 1: Meet the Cats
Always the first step in our adoption process, book time in the cat lounge to come meet the kitties and see who you connect with!
Step 2: Complete a Cat Adoption Application
Within 72 hours, a Pet Haven Representative will reach out to schedule an Introductory Call and Virtual Home Visit where you will meet virtually to discuss the adoptable cat(s), ask/answer questions on a video chat, and show where you plan to have kitty decompress, litter box locations, etc.
Step 3: Intro Call and Virtual Home Visit
24 hours after your Intro Call and Virtual Home Visit, you will hear from the Adoption Team at Pet Haven regarding next steps.
Please note, due to the high level of visibility to prospective adopters, cats at Wired Whisker often receive multiple adoption applications. In this case, we seek to find the purrfect match for the cat and for the person, and are committed to helping all approved adopters find their cat(s)!
Step 4: Adoption Day
Coordinate a date/time (M-F, no adoptions on Saturday or Sunday) for the adoption to take place. You must bring a size appropriate, travel-safe pet carrier for transporting kitty safely to your home.
Please check in at the order counter of Wired Whisker
Complete the Adoption Agreement and Cat Adoption Fee (the team at Wired Whisker will support)
A Wired Whisker representative will support getting kitty in their carrier and send you with a bag of food for transitioning diet, and any outstanding medications as needed.
Our Adoption Values
At Wired Whisker, we believe thoughtful, relationship-based adoptions lead to happier cats and more successful forever homes. Our adoption process is guided by the following values:
Decompression & Adjustment Period
All new cats enter a 14-day introduction hold after surgery and transport. This time allows them to settle in, ensures they’re healthy, and helps our staff get to know their personalities. Adoption applications are accepted once the hold period ends; applications submitted before then will not be processed.
Kitten Companionship
Kittens are adopted in pairs or into homes with another cat-friendly, young cat. Growing up with a companion supports healthy social development and sets kittens up for long-term success.
Social Needs of Colony & Group Cats
Many of the cats in our care come from colony environments or have lived closely with other cats. Because of this, they typically thrive in homes with another feline companion or when adopted as part of a pair or group. Unless otherwise noted, cats at Wired Whisker are looking for homes with another cat.
If you're looking for a solo cat or don’t find the right match here, we encourage you to connect with our local rescue partners who may have the perfect feline friend for your home.

Indoor-Only Homes
For their safety and well-being, all cats adopted through Wired Whisker are placed in indoor-only homes. Indoor living protects cats from traffic, predators, disease, and environmental hazards and helps ensure longer, healthier lives. We support safe outdoor enrichment alternatives such as enclosed catios, leash-and-harness walks, window perches, and interactive play when doing so prioritizes the individual cat’s needs and desires.
Best-Fit Adoption Matches
We do not offer same-day adoptions or operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, we take the time to get to know both the cats and potential adopters to create the best possible matches, leading to lower return rates and happier forever homes.
